“What Is It” is track 8 on Bruce Cohen’s album Five BC, released by Tarock Music 8/18/18. The video takes you to outer space and swept through the universe. The song has a mysterious/funk feel, while the bass and drums drive the groove, and sweeping synths add the melody.
Tarock Music releases Creatures Of Impulse, the ninth solo album by Rick Shaffer, that’s exactly what a garage blues record should sound like. Recorded in a ramshackle Como, Mississippi studio by a group of musicians playing together in a room, with sounds bleeding into each other, production atmospherics of shakers, tambourines and spoons adding movement to straightforward backbeats. There’s looseness, a human element that is missing from many of the over-produced music that’s released today.
Tarock Music has released a new album by Bruce Cohen marking his fifth solo venture. The twelve-song electronic excursion that continues his signature take on ambient music with the added element of funk. His 2017 album Four BC was a constrained four-minute per song experiment, while Five BC was recorded with a no time limit total stream-of-conscience approach. Cohen literally took to heart Miles Davis’ witticism when asked the name of the song he was about to perform saying, “I’ll play it and tell you later,” so Cohen didn’t title his songs until after they were recorded. The result is tracks that are an indisputable electronic classic, using a progressive house groove while weaving atmospheric textures of subtlety and beauty, demonstrated by Cohen’s artful skill of manipulating various moods.

Pennsylvania rock artist Rick Shaffer’s career in music spans decades. His accolades are impressive to say the least. But now, he’s released what I would consider his best of 8 solo albums to date! The ten track Garage Rock album Stolen Moments packs a real punch.
From the first track All I Want you will start bobbing your head and grooving along. The guitar riffs are pungent and the vocals are reminiscent of many classic rock legends. The whole album from front to back is packed full of energy. You can tell Rick had a ton of fun creating Stolen Moments.
Rick Shaffer says that the inspiration for Stolen Moments is that there are no guarantees in life, and every moment he spends creating music is precious time. We definitely agree, and are glad he spends his time wisely, for us all to enjoy the results!
